Peter Cowin story on the BBC

It is with great sorrow that we learn't of the death of Jimmy James. He was due to come & talk to us in February. We offer our sympathy to his widow.

Flying for Fun in the Southern Marches has just been published by a local Writer, Tony Hobbs.
He describes the early history of flight in the Southern Marches & goes onto describe all the opportunities open to budding aviators in this part of the world.
The final chapter makes reference to the Shobdon Strut.
A must for your Christmas wish list & only £9.95

Bruce Vibert at Shobdon

Bruve Vibert gave a fantastic explanation on what it was like to be flying the Fairey Sworsdfish off carriers in WW11 to the October meeting. He is on a one man mission to raise funds for the Royal Navy Historic flight & Shobdon was his 70th talk. Not bad for an 85 year old veteran.

Congratulations to Brian Williams for the successful fisrt flight of his new Alpi Pioneer 300 G-CDYY. Adrian Lloyds carried out the maiden flight, & Brian is pictured doing his first landing onto 27 at Shobdon.

James Carr Nats Biurmingham, gave  an  extreemly good account of the Airspace issues around Birmingham & kept the audience attention for a record of three hours without time out for anything.

Thank you.

We will organise a return visit to see Nats at work in Birmingham

Many thanks to John & Evelyn Bally for hosting the BBQ at Lane Farm on Thursday 12th July.
Five Shobdon aircraft made the short flight plus a couple of cars.
Robin once again made use of the farm trials bike & cut up the strip.
The weather behaved right up until departure time when we just made it out under a lowering sky.
